Default FOR SALE - Volvo V50 2.0D SE Sport (Manual/Black) 55 Plate

PICS TO FOLLOW

Selling my first Volvo V50 that has recently been driven by my other half,
it had been on SORN for a while as I'd acquired a new car and I wanted to use the time off the road to get it in tip top shape mechanically and cosmetically to sell.

But as my other half's 27 year old daily used campervan died last October I had no choice but to un-SORN the V50 so she could get to work!!
It sailed through the resultant MOT with no advisories.

***Details***

Colour: Sapphire Black

Reg: For MOT history/insurance purposes (BN55 JHH)

Mileage: 1494XX (rising as being used)

Transmission: M66 Manual 6-speed gearbox

FSH: When I bought it 5 years ago on 111k miles it had a dealers handbook with stamps indicating it had been well maintained, I have kept all the paperwork for jobs done in my time of ownership, I have done some of the work myself (suspension components mostly), but it's otherwise been worked on at a specialist Volvo garage in Hull (Voltech).

*The Timing Belt/Cam Belt has been done along with Water Pump*

*I serviced the car in April and used an engine flush and of course new filters for the oil/fuel/air and correct spec 5w-30 oil*

Wheels: 17" Serapis with lots of tread left
The alloys would benefit from a refurb - one has an unfortunate 'bite' but none are buckled and all hold air fine - I have two spare of these wheels fitted with winter tyres and could be included in the sale for an additional cost.

Other features and bits included:
2 x Keys
Sport Body Kit
Trip Computer
Cream Leather Interior (no tears)
Heated Front Seats (driver's is electric adjustable with memory)
6 CD Changer FM Radio
Electric Windows
Spare 17" space saver wheel
Scissor Jack and handle
Load Cover w/Dog Grate
Shopping Bag Hanger
Ring 130% Halogen headlight bulbs - best on the market IMO
ABS
Power Steering
Traction Control
Haynes Manual - some greasy pages

Parts replaced / things tended to during my ownership:

- Brake Pads and Discs with brake fluid flush (done on 3/6/18)
- 4-wheel laser alignment done at time of last MOT in October
- Front and Rear Droplinks
- Both rear callipers replaced a few years back due to seizing
- Wishbones
- Shock absorbers changed to Bilstein B4s
- Starter Motor
- Battery
- Alternator: known to last around 10 years, when it failed it I pulled over and kept cranking to attempt a start I later learned that this cooked the starter and battery... So all the above was replaced at the same time.
- DPF (as old pipes were corroded)
- CEM cleaned with contact spray and silica bags placed inside
- Cured a boost leak
- Done the throttle body flap modification to stop sticking and cleaned it out
- Intake manifold and EGR cleaned out

So all in it's a solid family car with no running issues that has been well tended to and is ready for a new home.
It really has served me well, been to the Isle of Skye and back in it without skipping a beat and helped me discard of a 15ft conifer amongst many other items taken to the local tip!

**I'm not going to pull the wool over anyone's eyes and will highlight the following not so perfect bits...**

Bodywork:
- Typical condition for it's age - could do with a machine polish which I wanted to do but saving my kit for my new car.

- The driver's door lower section has a prang as the Mrs "hit a tree" when reversing - I have done my best to pull the dent and had this week been quoted £150 to have it fixed by a paintless dent remover guy - it's not a deep and sharp ding but noticeable from certain angles.
- Has a scuff on the front bumper on the N/S, possible it may polish out.

Interior:
- Rear of the front passenger seat compartment netting has a hole from a child kicking it!!
- The load cover buttons are broken - a common issue, most people live with it and put tape over them like I have. Alternatively you could get the rear windows tinted and do away with it!

Other:
The car is showing a message for 'Alarm System Service Required' - one tap on the stalk and it disappears, it may be an old code that may need clearing with a Volvo diagnostic tool.
I did some research into the issue and found that it could be the alarm's fuse on the siren module - but I'm not sure because it works perfectly, my other suspicion is that it may be the car's internal movement sensor.
The alarm works as it should so I just let it be.

I feel like I've been as honest as I can here, any questions please ask.

***NO swaps or part-exchange please, I will consider offers but only respectable ones... Test drivers will need to prove an active licence and insurance cover***

Given all the work done the asking price is £1850
(add £100 for the 2 x Serapis wheels and 4 x winter tyres)

Car is located in HU18 postcode area.

Kind Regards
Dave

Update:
I discovered a brake fluid leak from the rear right caliper bleed nipple today and upon tightening it up I discovered that it kept on spinning.
I removed the bleed nipple completely to discover it had plumbers tape or some kind of sealant on it and that the threads on the inside of the caliper were mangled.
It was clearly bodged the last time the fluid was changed and I'm not happy to try and re-bodge as it quite frankly dangerous. God knows how it lasted this long.
So until I've fitted a new caliper the car cannot be sold.

Cheers
Dave

I sourced and fitted a new caliper from a 2013 C30, along with a brake fluid flush the car is now good to go.
Just going to give it a coat of Fusso Dark to finish things off.

Just been thinking and I'd like a quick sale as there's now a Vauxhall Disastra on the driveway - to anyone on the forum I'll let this car go for £1650.

I went over the paperwork last night and for whoever is interested the timing belt and waterpump kit was done at 126082 miles.

Cheers
Dave
