Default Confused on engine types. Are any Ford?

Looking at V50’s on autotrader and getting proper confused.

I’ve seen a 2010 D2 that says it’s an 8v, so good I assume. With 6 speed box.
I’ve also seen a drive 2011 that has 16v, so bad I assume. With what looks like a 6 speed box.

Both 113bhp?

Also are any Ford based?

Thanks to both of you, was wondering about the chaotic of those "D" engines names some time ago..
whats the diff between D3 and D4 - any physical difference (turbo size etc) or just mapping?

Given you can remap a D3 to D4 specs and beyond my guess is D3 is a de-tuned D4. There may be some subtle differences otherwise but can't be sure.

Stop the bus.... here it is converted from kW!

30 = 109-122bhp
35 = 148-161bhp
40 = 168-201bhp
45 = 227-248bhp
50 = 282-308bhp
55 = 245-329bhp
60 = 429-456bhp
70 = 536bhp+

What were Audi on? It's pretty confusing TBH.

Well there you have it! thanks.

Imagine how that system will get abused in the future with second hand cars and owners swapping numbers about to make the car appear more powerful.

Thats exactly the same as the volvo T2 to T8 and D2 to D6 designations which came in 10 years ago , it refers to a power band NOT an engine type .
