The UK market faces serious VED changes on 1st April 2017 so many will be bringing forward their purchases before this date. Also, in good old Volvo tradition, the MY18 (existing model) XC60 (release date April 2017) will have a cut-down specifications and options list (the final year of the '70 series was very significantly pruned). Finally, dealer discounts are excellent just now (although some exchange rate correction may be on the cards).

They are closing down that production line in Ghent for the old XC60 and switching the entire factory to the 40 series models, so that is the reason I guess for the cut down specification. They will be trying to keep the factory as operational as possible for as long as possible and building the new production lines at the same time.

If thing go to plan there won't be an old model Ghent MY 2018 but only the new Swedish built MY2018 model. If things don't go to plan then it could be another 3 to 6 months of the old model. (April-September 2017)

If we see a new XC60 at the geneva motorshow, then we have a chance of seeing a new model before 2018. I cant see it personally before 2018, there hasnt been enough press regarding it, considering its the biggest runner for Volvo.
