I have been using Lloyds in Carlisle for about 5 years and have generally enjoyed the experience.

Nearly bought a car from Chapmans in York, and found them helpful & not pushy (although I did wish the salesman had tried a bit harder - typical when you want them to fone and offer you a "deal" they don't!!)

D&A Autos Witney Oxon http://www.da-autos.co.uk/ always seemed fair .The brakes went heavy on my 240 so I took it to them.He took one look at it took of a hose from the vacume cylinder and put on a new one.The inside of the hose had colapsed.I asked how much he said no charge have a good day.Cant be fairer than that.Mind you that was a few years ago but I think the same guy is running it.Bob

John Morris Motors Grimsby, have had seven Volvos serviced there for more than 10 years with no problems.

Don't know about the service side because I've never used it (although the chap who owned my car before me had 10 years worth of servicing done there) but Mark in the parts department at Motorworld in Wolverhampton is excellent. On the rare occasions that he hasn't had required information to hand he always phones through with it as soon as he's got it.

My aunt highly recommends Riverside Hull.
Myself, it has got to be MRG in Chippenham. I cannot fault their work and helpfulness across the board since the first time I enquired about the S60 when it was launched.
This is my first Volvo (which I sadly purchased elsewhere) but they have served me well and embarassingly everyone seems to know my name!! Didn't think I was that awkward a customer!!!
For a main dealer they are pretty cheap compared to others around here.

Thumbs up

Hi - I have no experience of main dealers - only what other volvo owners have told me - both Stratstones in Cardiff and Newport are rubbish.

So I use an independant - Tremorfa Garage in Cardiff - family run garage - all time served mechanics- no nonsence premises - but very professional and friendly. I took my '01 S60 2.0T SE for a full Service and MOT and also to have all brake discs, pads and handbrake shoes fitted.

I supplied all the parts as I my wife's uncle works for Partco - so I can get most items at trade discount - altogether - all the brake parts, filters etc. and fully synthetic oil came to £180. Tremorfa Garage did the service, MOT and brakes and changed a rear drop arm link for a further £200 (including VAT). Oh and all the work is guaranteed - even if you supply your parts. So £380.00 for all that is pretty good in my book.

They did a fantastic job would certainly recommend them and will continue to use them in the future!

Happy New Year to you all.

Me again - forgot to mention it was for a 66,000 mile service so it included all filters, oil and spark plugs, etc.

If you are Caerphilly based and going on my previous cars I would also recommend Bedwas Motoring Centre based in ..Bedwas. Again a family business and slightly more up market based on their premises and prices - but always offered a very good professional service and nothing was too much bother for them. I had my 2 Rovers serviced and repaired by them and they were more than happy to fit customer supplied parts.

There are some good ones out there!

Happy and safe motoring!
