Default replacement engine

Hi, XC90 d5 163 my03. 170k.

Replacing engine. Have ordered from a reliable source with 1 year warrsnty. and will be fitted by local indie. I know car is not worth much but is clean and tidy, otherwise just serviced and mot.

I am sure that they will look at this engine closely but asked them to inspect egr and turbo, change core plug and crank oil seals. Also cambelt and serpentine.

The old engine mounts are shot so these will also be replaced.

Gearbox flushed about 6k ago, i guess flushing again while engine is out.

I am also sure they will inspect other items but any suggestions on what else to check/replace?

(Btw, result of exhaust gases leaking into coolant, coolant loss. Botched repair (head gasket) by incompetent garage)

Thanks John l

I think you have covered it, belts, seals and mounts.

If they do it methodically then there’s no need to disturb the gearbox fluid. Might be a good time to check front suspension bushes also.

You need the engine to be running when you flush the gearbox, so can't do it whilst the engine is out. I would leave it alone if it was changed 6k ago.
