I prefer 165/80R15 instead of the wider ones.
Nobody else will recommend them here I believe
Good luck, Kay

I also have 165/80s on my 5.5 inch wheels. They were the standard fitment on TR6s when new, on the same size wheel, so fit right and look right, and don't put extra load on the wheel bearing, or make the steering heavier.

Although American TR6s had 185 tyres as standard but with modern rubber and tyre design 165 is what I would go for.
Cheers Richard

Yes, US TR6s had 185 tyres to compensate tor the fact that they didn't have overdrive fitted. UK cars had o/d and 165 tyres.

Got the 15 x 5.5 inch steels on my Amazon.

I run 195/65/15 tyres (Falken all seasons).

There are no rubbing or clearance issues.

Same here, 5.5J with 195/65
However I think they look ‘over tyred’ and when I change think I will try 165/80

195/65 x 15 gives a marginally reduced rolling circumference, but hardly noticable, meaning that the speedo will be slightly less and it will rev more on the motorway. But we're talking hardly anything. From memory the speedo is something like 3%.

The other benefit is that that tyre size is a very popular fitment, so cheap!

Just one other thing though: P1800, like Amazon Estate, has 4.5J wheels. Fitting 195/65 15 tyres to those wheels I understand is doable, but not ideal.

The steering is not any heavier with the 195/65/15 fitting. I have been running them for 20 odd years and would never go any narrower on the tyres. The only Amazon I will have with narrow tyres is my 58 unless I find a 57

It is possble to squeeze a 195 onto the 4J wheel but ideally you do want a 5J+ wheel
