What else have you replaced along side the dpf? Did they check the sensors to make sure they are working and was the pipe work checked also? Is the swirl arm connected and working properly?

Need to find out why filter is clogged before you do anything,

No point forcing it to regen if there is an issue as your just wasting diesel for it to be sat there for an hour reving its nuts off,

Usual regen on those engines is around an hour, later ones do it in around 20 minutes

I guess the dealer has checked everything... Before replacing it...
I am very unhappy, the cost for the new dpf here is 2 or 3 times more expensive than in Europe...

The will have to answer for this since the work is guaranteed..

Do you have a clue?
Could the press sensor or the temp sensor be failing and been misinterpreted by the computer as a full filter?

If one if the sensors has failed Or is giving incorrect information then it will cause you problems.

There is a small black plastic link arm below the oil filer cap that is connected to an electric motor at one end. This operates the swirl valves inside the inletmanifold. These are to help improve emmissions but it is a common failure for the link arm to break. If the arm is broken then it can't move the valves and it can't calibrate which would store a fault code. With a code stored it might not be letting the filter regenerate on its own. Its only something to check. Running out of ideas now I'm afraid.

The DPF filter clogged is the symptom of the problem not the cause,

How long have you had the car??

Has it had any past history of warning lights on??

Has it ever been misfueled, ie filled with petrol

Any solution to this yet?

Sounds like a sensor or fueling issue further up the chain thats causing it.

Well it was a long shot. I did read on here from well respected member that a swirl arm fault code would prevent dpf regeneration but anyhow was just a thought

Hi again! Many thanks for your interest on helping me!!

Well, I took the car to the dealer, it seems that when the dpf is replaced with a new one, a sensor or computer recalibration has to be made...
They did it and problem solve!

Thanks for sharing the outcome with us. Just remember now that taking the car for a good long run once a week (certainly at least once a month) should help prevent any future issues!
