Park assist volume
Can anyone shed some light on this. My front park assist volume has suddenly dropped to being barely audible, the rear is fine. Any ideas?
It's a shame Volvo don't build cars like they used to, I'm loosing track of all the things that have gone wrong with mine, and still only on 50K!

On my 2012, you simply turn the volume dial to adjust it, when it's beeping. Or I go into a Sensus menu screen and adjust it, even if it's not beeping.
Not sure if there's a second method on a 2008, but the first should work, I presume. |

Thank you, I'll try that tomorrow.

Sadly that didn't work so it looks like yet another thing to add to the growing list of problems.

Out of curiosity, I looked in the 2008 manual. It seems the volume adjust my car has wasn't introduced by then.

Is it the factory-fitted system that gives a visual representation of the car & distances on the radio LCD screen?

Sorry for the delay. Yes it is a factory system, the display just says park assist active but doesn't show distance. I can hear it bleep but it's very, very faint.

I get I plan view of the car on the LCD display with a series of 'beams' radiating out from the positions of the sensors to indicate the distance to the obstruction. I've never attempted to find out if the volume of the beeps can be adjusted but it lowers the volume of the radio so you can hear them clearly.

Yes, and you get that in the LCD that's at the top of the center stack, right?
We have two XC70, but they both have the large colour display on top of the dashboard, and then it's shown there, of course. Together with the reverse camera display. |

I just have the small display in the radio with no distance indicator. I did a bit more checking today and the beep for the front sensors comes from the right hand door speaker. When I played with the sound settings from left to right I discovered that there's no sound at all from the door speaker so that would explain my problem. I need to remove the door card next to see if there's power to the speaker, at the moment it's only the tweeter which explains the faint sound of the park assist. At least it's being narrowed down!
