Default 1989 240DL Manual Estate

As featured here

http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=230233

Very reluctantly I am putting this up for sale. Due to a recurrent medical condition I am having to look for an automatic for my daily 150 - 200 miles...

Finding a suitable auto 240 is proving very difficult and I need to make the change asap so am looking a number of 960's locally. If I had the space on the drive I would keep this for occasional use and to restore it back to show condition which wouldn't take that much. However the wifes motorhome has taken up all of the spare space!

It will be available as soon as I have sourced a suitable replacement - which as I have said needs to be very soon as operating a clutch is agony some days. Until then it will remain in daily use.

It had a full service last week and current mileage is 30700K which will rise as it is in daily use.

Spare wheel trims, unopened pack of replacement window rubbers and a set of original wheel trims included. Also - complete spare Solex carb with manifold and steering rack. There a genuine boot liner as well.

£1000

Interested parties please PM me and we can take it from there

Cheers
Ian

Because the only 240 auto I would consider would be one with fuel injection -not a carb, plus I have neither the time nor inclination for that kind of project

Having looked at some 940/960's locally I am not sure that I would be as happy with one - so think that I will try and hang on for an auto 240. In consequence the wheel trims, window rubbers and boot liner as mentioned in the first post are not now included.

As an alternative I am asking around to see if there is somewhere I can store it - if something comes up I may well just hang on to it as I thing its unlikely I will find another one like this. On the other hand it would be a shame for it to sit doing nothing..... Not sure.

A promising day all round - a strong possibility of a new auto 240 and an offer of long term storage for this one from my eldest daughter

So, no hurry to sell - not that sure I want to anyway - I do worry about it standing unused though.....cant make my mind up.....

If your looking for a good, straight, reliable 240 then PM me and we can have a chat - it may well still be available

Cheers
Ian

Now sold

The new owner seems like a good chap - I have recommended that he signs up here and joins VOC

I am pleased to hear that he wants it for daily long distance commuting - excellent news, it will love it and so will he!

Great news I personally think 240's need to be driven regularly.

How are you finding your auto? Is the engine a 2.3l? I really like my auto, just over 217,000 now.

Thanks James

Coming up to 1.5K miles since I picked it up a week and half ago - its running perfectly

Although there are a few minor issues here and there its spot on mechanically

As soon as I have cleared some space on my drive it will be time to clean and waxoil the rear arches, remove the headlamp wipers, sort out the odd bits of paintwork etc - all the usual stuff

Its a 2ltr - I couldnt find a 2.3 that didnt have serious rust issues. The performance isnt too bad - perfectly acceptable for my daily commute along the M25

I know that 240 values are rising but this surprised me a little

Asking four times what I sold it for 5 months ago!
