Any 2003 V70R modified .... comments needed
I am researching the possibility of modifying ( just a little as still in warranty ) my V70R. I do not want to start the whole do this , do that debate. All I want is comments from guys with this car who have had it done and what they think of the results. I am leaning towards the BSR PPC so if you have had that then please give me your honest opinion.
thanks for looking Chris |

MTE software.
Good morning Chris,
I can install the MTE software in your car for £511 including VAT. If you check www.mte.se you will find their declared outputs for their work as 335bhp and 480nm torque. You can also visit www.tme.se for other information. The next software upgrade gives 360bhp and 500nm with the addition of a stainless 3" downpipe with special cat and sports system after that. The main difference between the installation of the MTE software and some of their competitors is that I remove the ECU from the car and effect the software changes with the ECU isolated from the car. When installation is effected through the OBD socket by one means or another the ECU is still communicating with the vehicle. I do have to say that MTE have a similar OBD socket system coming to the market within a few weeks as that does give some simple solutions in dealing with customers just by post, courier and email. TME distributors will however keep their existing kit to carry out the work in the traditional manner. Depending on where you are I may be able to visit by appointment to carry out the work at your workplace or home. Hi Chris,
I have a new V70R and have started the upgrade process. I have done mine in reverse order to yours as in I'm doing the chip last. I have added a Ferrita 3" downpipe, with TME catback exhaust and a BMC filter. I'm going for the stage 2 ECU and hope to get the 360BHP and 500Nm of torque offered. I aim to have this complete by the end of August. I have yet to decide on wether to go with the hard install or the softloader type, In either event I shall be using MTE software. Hedley

Many thanks guys. I have been quoted that the BSR PPC will give me 354BHP and around 480 torque thingies. I do seem quite taken with the fact that it can revert to standard for service time but yes I do agree it is expensive for a quick plug and play device. I had the same done on my impreza at PE. £700 for a ten second download .... Eeeek !

Have a look at
http://www.V70R.com Quite a few of the members on that forum are modding the new shape R. They're a friendly bunch too, full of good advice and experience. The BSR PPC system does sound attractive, but now I'm out of warranty, seems like overkill. Anyway, don't think i'll be chipping anytime soon. Happy tweaking Oli

Big Thanks to the guys who replied above. It`s all food for thought.
Just got back after a mammoth drive to pick the car up. Wow, I`m impressed. Nothing like getting to know your new car whilst sitting in it for 8 hours !!!! Took it in turn to drive and fall asleep and play with toys etc ... It`s certainly a bit more pokey than the old oil burner !!!!!! |
