Smile A Kit of Parts

My new car is apparently on the transporter from the factory. The only problem is it never went through production so I am expecting a DIY assembly XC60.
I wouldn't mind but I have never been very good at spray painting, I hope they send enough aerosols

pray that the blooming instructions are better than those that accompany Ikea furniture!!

I'm sure it won't be in packaging crates when it arrives and will be everything you hoped for and more besides. Remember to post pictures, especially if it is in kit form ;-)

Rootes Group, for one, used to send CKD kits of cars to far flung places I think as late as the sixties. Hillman Hunter in a box!!

Rootes had a sub assembly factory in Iran where I believe they sent the kits.

They will probably still be running as they will not have rusted away as most of they UK ones did.

That was it, I couldn't remember which country it was other than the Middle East somewhere.

I used to regularly pass the Rootes factory and watched Avenger shells rusting as they sat outside. Then there was the pool car Avenger that rusted in the middle of the roof....I wonder why? Not!
