  • VOC Members: There is no login facility using your VOC membership number or the details from page 3 of the club magazine. You need to register in the normal way

the tensioner was taken off and slow turned back in a vice at a garage lined up pulleys fitted tensioner pulled pin, then turned by hand 3 to 4 full cycles

Did you then tighten the tensioner arm? (after turning it over twice)

no, just pulled pin, checked etc and fired it up,

Sorry mate thats right Iam thinking of something else Doh, so you pulled pin and rotated engine, all seemed ok?

Then it ran ok for a bit, then restarted and it started to play up again and you found the tooth out again?

Sounds like the tensioner has gone weak, especially if there is oil weeping out, I would get another ASAP, you might be better off buying a complete kit now you know your car will run ok once the timings sorted, also, did you have a white/blue plastic spacer that sat on the end of the tensioner?

yes m8, replaced the spacer when turned a few times by hand.

just a update, belt kit gets ordered from rufe in the morn, (thank god for mums and dads.) so will be looking at fitting on sun all being well,.
