Sat nav trouble
Hi all
Got a 2010 Volvo V70 2.4D MK3 R-Design black. Sat nav is MMM2 which sits on top of dash panel. Not a MMM+ or the one that sits in the middle of the dash. Ok been out today and stupidly I decided to use the inbuilt Volvo MMM2 sat nav system. Open car Turn ignition on Start engine Press enter behind steering wheel Sat nav lifts up Message on screen Press enter to accept Goes to maps Press back On screen "Set Destination" I can select 'stored locations' 'last ten' 'map search' Why cannot I enter an address it is unselectable. Yes did press down 'stored... 'last.... 'map s.... 'stored.... 'last.... Yes the DVD is in DVD drive. As I drive along the sat nav shows me where I am. So it works in that way. If I select from 'stored locations' home which was previously stored it gave direction to get home. Any ideas? Regards David |

I don't have any experience from that one. I have the first generation Sensus in the fixed center display.
Although my system has a harddrive, thus don't need the DVD in the slot, it takes some seconds before it's ready to do an address search. It doesn't come to your system after some time either? |

Does it go onto the address entry screen? If so does it say ‘address’ or ‘postcode’ at the top left? It’s a bit counter intuitive, if it says address it’s on postcode entry mode and vice-versa.

Gents.
Did I not make myself clear, thought I covered all the stupid comments. This is a MMM2 System, oh dear me of course who thought I needed to wait a while before trying something. I turn system on, didn’t work within 4.3 seconds so turned off. Oh course I waited, of course I sat pondered, “what could be wrong?” Check settings, reset to default, and still not able to select Address page. Even this takes time. Reggit, did you actually read what I wrote? Why cannot I enter an address it is unselectable. Yes did press down 'stored... 'last.... 'map s.... 'stored.... 'last.... Maybe my terminology Why cannot I enter an address it is unselectable. Yes did press down 'stored locations 'last ten 'map search 'stored locations 'last ten ‘Map search Nope still cannot access the Address line Try pressing up ‘Last ten ‘Stored locations ‘Map search ‘Last ten ‘Stored locations ‘Map search ‘Last ten ‘Stored locations And so on Still will not access to Address I am not an idiot, so stop treating me like one. I asked what I thought was a serious question. After previous examples of forums like “I have a Volvo V70 1999….” A response of “is that a 2002 or later model” to “automatic gearbox problem” with a response of “mine is a manual” I tried to explain what I have and my actions so far. Maybe I will include 47 high resolution photographs explaining system and every step I took. Now can any one answer a simple question? Why cannot I access “Address” on set destination page. Yours David. |

I’m not treating anyone like an idiot, was trying to help as it was unclear what you had done.
I’ll not bother any more. Bye |

I'm sure many could offer some help - but with both of your replies in your post...I don't see why they/or myself should bother. Regards

I'd expect this sort of exchange on a Corsa site but it's very unusual on this sober Volvo forum. I've asked some very silly questions in the past and don't remember getting such abrasive answers. Most members of this forum are exceedingly helpful and go out of their way to assist those with less knowledge or experience than themselves.

I’m not sure if who your reply is aimed at Tatsfield, the original poster or the subsequent replies including mine.
Like yourself I’d like to think of this forum as a mainly polite, helpful and peaceful site. We’re all here for a common love/like of the same car and or model. Calling people stupid who attempt to give help is always personally going to get my back up, as well as others it would seem. Perhaps the original poster was having a bad day, or perhaps you think I’m having one but I stand by my own comments which I feel were still polite.

Sorry for any ambiguity. My remarks were about the discourteous and very un-Volvo-like response from the OP. He seems to expect that contributors on this forum will flame and troll the unwary but he's wrong. Very few are anything if not helpful and polite.
