Alignment of windscreen wiper arm.
Since I had my windscreen resealed last year, the driver side windscreen wiper blade gives a gentle but irritating clonk as it just touches the vertical windscreen trim at the end of its travel. It only does this when it's raining well and presumably there's less friction, but it's annoying. Thinking they have got the windscreen wiper arm a couple of splines out, I removed the cap over the securing nut and tried to see a way of marking the current position before removing and repositioning the arm. I've used insulating tape or similar on other cars, but there's no obvious way of doing this on our V70.
I decided to wing it, but determining the optimum position is not easy due to the sprung mechanism of the arm - you'll know what I mean if you've done the job yourself. I got pretty close in the end, but now the outermost end of the wiper hangs over the bottom windscreen trim by about 0.5". Is there an 'official' way of getting it right please?

Hello
If you have your wipers on then switch the ignition off as the offending blade strikes the pillar trim, ie full sweep or as Volvo call it " service position", you can then set the blade just prior to the trim which should in hopefully alleviate your problem. HTH |

Thanks for this. The problem I had initially with the blade flat on the screen was that the spring exerted such a strong pressure on spindle that I couldn't pull the arm off. I removed the blade thinking that might help but it didn't; it was only by lifting the arm fully and relieving the spring pressure that I could get the arm off the spindle - which lost my point of reference.
But, I take your point. I wasn't using the 'park' option to position the blade initially. I'll give it another go.
