Could it be a problems with the brakes or bearing!?

Can you do a test with the cruise control set to 30mph and watching the instantaneous fuel consumption for 1 or 2 minutes if you can on clear ( and flat if possible) road and tell what is the minimum and maximum value?

I can’t as I sold that car a couple of year ago - I can tell you what a 215 would provide. The issue with the engine, especially on an auto was and is not when you are driving a steady speed as consumption drops to an absolute minimum under those circumstances in any car, it is when you are accelerating as you loose a lot to the fluid flywheel - significantly more at lower speeds that higher speeds and this is what happens in city driving.

Sorry for the misunderstanding, but I quoted your post in my previous one and my post was actually for the OP. If he can do the test and give us some idea of the figures. Also while at speed he can put it in neutral ( it's possible on automatic) and see if the car lose speed quicker than normal, then this will mean something is wrong with the wheels or the brakes.
Regarding the acceleration that is true, but I do it every 30sec to 1min here 😉.
And my foot is quite heavy ( number 11) 😄

Your mpg figures seemed *really* low to me so I checked a couple of online convertors which both gave the following:
13 l/km is ~ 21.7 UK mpg
11.8 l/km is ~ 23.9 UK mpg

I never got to low 20s with my XC90 D5 but I imagine it could be possible in pure city driving.
One thing not already mentioned is low tyre pressure will reduce mpg.

I have your beast and I have never manually measured fuel consumption (brimming the tank etc) I just rely on the computer.
But with a combination of hard autobahn driving and stop & go town driving I have never seen it rise above 9l/100 km
I usually cruise at 8.5l/100km and if I am really frugal cruising at 120km/h I can get 7.5 l/100km.

Yours does seem excessively high.

New to this forum and wondering if anyone else has experienced a dramatic drop in fuel economy. Xc 60 2.4 awd 2009. Also mileometer has stopped. Gauge saying it’s doing 32 average but it’s closer to 15/18. Mix of driving so should be doing that figure. Any ideas guys? Thanks
