Good morning,

'Newbie' here who's seen a really nice 1800S ex-Californian car, any pit-falls to be wary of?

Does anyone in the Club carry out pre-inspection type services in the SE?

Thanks in advance
Tony

Great that this is a Californian car, but corrosion will still be the single biggest thing to check for.
Check most carefully along the front wing lines, around front main lights headlights and side lights, corners of the windscreen, rear wings into wheel arches, and the underside of whole car. Use a magnet if possible to find if filler has been used to conceal rot anywhere. check under carpets in each footwell for hidden rot and any poor repairs.

Thanks 'G-P', much appreciated and very sound advice, it was, of course, the (apparent) lack of rot or filler that's the main attraction to this car; seller informs and it appears to bear out that the car was treated underneath from new. - That said, much of the chrome work has been re-plated to variable standards; in that the rear quarter bumper shows signs of peeling.

On a wider matter, how is the spares situation, anything that is 'unavailable'?
I'm presuming, as per (all) of my other old cars, that the 'Asian' sourced repro parts are not to such a high standard as Original and "you generally get what you pay for"?
