Default Info Centre failure-a cure of sorts!

My Info Centre occasionally has an attack of the sulks-probably a cracked track on the circuit board or a "dry joint".
Being somewhat irritated by this a few weeks ago I gave the top of the dash a sharp slap & "hey presto" it woke up!
This has now happened twice & both times the same treatment has worked. (Shades of how Lancaster Navigators were advised to encourage their HS2 radar in WW2!)

The Onslo method - works for TV's, Stereos, 440 Dashboard lights (mine) etc etc etc.

Wonderful isn't it?

Hmmmmmmm...sounds familiar.

When I first bought our 480es the info centre would work intermittently, along with the n/s lights and other electric gadgetry. On investigation I discovered 3 large connector blocks behind the glove box (remove 4 screws) - one of these was very slightly loose and needed to be properly seated. Then, Hey presto everything worked!

Prior to this my method had been a sharp whack to the dash or kick below the glove box. 50/50 success rate.

Hope this helps someone.:)

Know the method well.

My success rate with the method is a bit low, but it can relieve quite a bit of stress!

Altering the intensity of the impact and frequency seems to have created a few unwanted rattles.

Sadly the rattles haven't taken my attention from a fuel and temp gauge which only works intermittently, generally after 3 days, 30 miles and 30 minutes! Strange.

After a visit to the specialist garage under warranty it seemed to work, for a month anyway.

I thought I had cured it by removing the dash and gauges from the housing and cleaning all the contacts and checking for breaks in the PCB, but no, it worked for a month anyway. Strange.

If anyone who has had this problem could give me any pointers I would be most greatful.

Thanks

Karl
