strange noise after locking car

hi after ive locked the car (2008 v50) when the dead locks kick in i can hear a loud noise , its a bit like a duck being strangled i wondered if one of the dead locks were sticking ?? any one had this ??

I had this on two doors (driver side) at separate times within warranty. 2008 car also. I think it was something to do with an actuation arm needing replaced. Sounded exactly as you describe and happened during deadlock.

I'd imagine it's one that most people don't notice because they'd have walked away from their car by the stage it happens.

Comes from the engine area..?

benr, your issues sounds more like the headlamp motor fluttering. If that's possible stick your ear beside each headlamp unit after you've got out and see it that's the case. There's a fix posted on these forums if that is your issue as I had that problem with my car.

It's really damn loud! I never noticed it til someone commented on it today. Just thought it was normal!

Sounds like the car is farting, I'll video it after work

My C70 does a similar thing. Be keen to see the video to see if it is the same.

This is exactly the noise that we discussed in the following thread. Mine does it, as does VenomS40's. We never got to the bottom of what it was but mine had been doing it for the 3 years I've had the car and has never caused any problems. Good to hear the video to confirm we're not alone.

It's a separate one to that which the OP was discussing though. It was deadlock related i.e. the second phase lock which happens 30 seconds or so after pressing lock on key fob.

Sounds like it's losing air out of one of the vacuum lines, mine did this one day when I was removing the Turbo Boost Control but not quite as loud

I have to admit, I had thought it sounded a bit like this. Can someone with detailed knowledge confirm? I'd imagine the noise is pretty easy to diagnose for someone who works with these engines a lot. I've always just assumed it's normal.
