D2 1.6-3000 R.P.M. rev limiter?
M.O.T. is looming and something which has been hanging around for a while is a possible issue of when the car is stationary and I rev the engine, it tries to rev limit to 3000 rpm which I think is normal? But it also hunts with the revs, going between 3100 and 2900 constantly until I take the foot off the throttle. There is also a lot of black unburned diesel coming out the exhaust which stinks. No codes present and engine runs fine when driven along the road (with no rev limiting) and the M.P.G. is 54 so I am at a bit of a loss what the problem could be. It seems to be over fuelling then dropping the revs and then under fuelling then dumping more fuel in in a repeating cycle as if I am pumping the throttle pedal.
