Had a 2017MY XC60 D4 VEA from new, passed on at over 60k/2 years old.

The "top up 0.5l oil" message would occasionally come on just before it was due a service (i.e. after 16k-17k miles).

Regular servicing and plenty of longer journeys. Also, autobox fluid change every two years.

The same applies to my wife's car, however.

Mine was used by a sales manager who covered over 90k miles in three years, so it probably did lots of long journeys prior to me purchasing it nearly four years ago.

Having said that, my wife's car had over 90k miles on the clock when she bought it at four years old, so it wasn't just a shopping trolley on wheels, either.

Go figure. (I can't. )

Many thanks.

That's quite normal in my experience.

I'm now using 1 litre per 250 miles. My garage just said "keep topping it up" when I last asked. I've not been doing any long runs recently, especially since lockdown, mostly 5-30 mile sort of distances. I had the DPF changed within the last couple of thousand miles which was probably clogged by all this s hite going down the pipe. My carbon footprint is now massive and I'd like to know if it is worth trying to rectify the issue or just scrap it. Your thoughts would be welcome.
Judging by the lack of responses so far it seems that we members don't do a lot of thinking.

May I suggest that you create a dedicated thread in the following forum for P2 models

https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=19

or in the following forum for P3 models

https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=112

and see what replies you get?

My only other thought is to sell you a very large shoe for your carbon foot .....
