Default Media player head unit upgrade help!

Hi All,

I have just bought this off ebay for my 2005 C70 to replace the standard cd/casette player (part number 35337751)

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/7-Double-...72.m2749.l2649

Its dimensions are a little bit smaller than the original unit so i will need a fascia, I cannot find measuerments ANYWHERE for the old unit so i dont know what size fascia to get. the new unit is 178mm*102mm*60mm/7.01*4.02*2.36in

Also does anyone know how easy these are to fit? I havent even attempted it yet but there is so many wires in the box its daunting...

Much appreciated!!

Can't you just measure the size of the old unit or the hole where it fits?
As for wiring, never fitted one of these myself but I would think you'll have to cut the plugs off the car wiring and work our which wire does what, speakers power etc.
Good luck...

This will go in without any problems.

You wont need to cut your plugs as the iso given with the unit will go on straight away.

Not quite without any problems, you will have to shave the rails that the OE head-units slide in on. This will also mean that you will be unable to re-use an OE head-unit at any point in the future. You are spot regarding wiring though.

Hi Twinktoilet,

That unit looks interesting, and not very expensive.
Radio, GPS, Bluetooth, rear camera etc etc

Please let us know how you get on.

Steve

Sorry to necro an old thread but is shaving the rails the only option?

I thought about removing the whole facia unit to see if it is removable?

Its not the only option, your can replace the centre console trim if you want to go back to OE units. The rails themselves however are built into the structure of the console.

I am guessing as he didn't return to update it fitted fairly easily.
I just got a super cheap unit from Wish, for the bluetooth, so need to find my own way of fitting it as it is was just the unit and wiring not fitting kit.

Just intending to get a double din cage and facia and see how it goes
