Default S90 mpg

Hi All,

Thinking of a S90. Likely a 2018 version. Interested in the inscription trim ideally with the Xenium upgrade. Most of the ones on autotrader with Xenium upgrade are the Power Pulse Trim.

I needed good mpgs but I am getting conflicting advice when I look on Google about the mpg of the power pulse and even the manufacturer's old data sheets say one thing and other website say another.

Anyone know what the mpgs are of the power pulse diesel trim? Any reason for the discreprenacy?

Thanks.

Power Pulse isn't a trim level it's a device fitted to the D5 engine to spool up the turbo quickly.

The S90 saloon comes as a D4 or a D5 in all trim levels including Inscription, D5 models are AWD and D4 are just front wheel drive, thus the D4 is the more economical of the two as it is slightly less BHP and doesn't need to drive the rear axle which can increase fuel use.

I have a V90 D4 estate and generally get an average of mid 40's mpg across all journey types, I can squeeze well over 50+ mpg by driving steadily on a long run, hammering it in Dynamic mode reduces the average to around 40 mpg, still very good for such a large car.

I had a D4 V90 and got very similar MPG to Cassell. I now have a D5 R Design = Powerpulse and AWD. On identical journeys I'm getting about 8 MPG less.

Thanks for your explanation!

I've got a V90 D4, and on my 2 hour mainly-motorway regular drive I tend to get high 40's and sometimes a nudge over 50 - thats with cruise control, pilot assist on etc.

On an average tank including lots of pootliing round local roads, average is 41-43.

As stated previously, not earth-shatteringly good, but OK for such a big heavy car, driven "normally" and not overly-cautious

I have a 2017 D4.

In winter, short Journeys I was getting 21 mpg.

S90 D4 here averaging mid 50's. Very little town driving as live out in the sticks.
The last brim to brim was 66.8MPG as we have been doing some 'eco trips' just because we can after the lockdown. The best was 74MPG on the trip meter for a 125 mile jaunt using A, dual and motorway only and not going above 50MPH except when going down hill of course, the 'freewheel' tool can be useful and scary some times!!!
It is not easy to get these figures but it can be fun and concentration levels have to be high.
We had a C30 Drive-E which was exceptional on fuel so considering the size of this beast it is astounding what can be achieved.
