Default Glow Plug Light Hardly stays on

Hi All,
On my 2005 V70D5 Euro4 185bhp, the glow plug light only comes on and goes straight off, I suspected knackered glow plugs and had a set of genuine Volvo glowplugs That I bought for my previous S60 D5, swapped them over and its the exact same, so is there a timer relay that needs swapping?

The car has always started from cold and was no problem since Feb when I bought it, but wonder if the temp really dipped would it start?

No need for them to be energised in this weather, hence the light goes straight out.
When we get to winter and some cold weather - below 5C then the light will illuminate for longer........as the ecu is calling for preheat. The colder it gets the longer the preheat.

They are on the Euro 4 as they're used all year round.

Only two occasions in the last 10 years I've turned my ignition on and waited on the glow plug light to go out. First time was during the -21C freeze of 2010/11 and the second was during the Beast from the East

As I said above, the Euro 4 D5 needs functioning glow plugs all year round so that article is irrelevant to the comment I made or this thread in general given the OP has a Euro 4.
