Default 850 heated seat wiring recall

Came across the Volvo recall webpage today and put in the VIN for my 850 and shocked to see there is an outstanding recall. Not sure how far back Volvo will go with their recalls and well aware they are more than likely going to find "other defects" not associated with this recall...

Anyone else been there and had their seats checked recently?

Not recently but my first 2.0l saloon had this recall carried out back in 2003 whilst I had ownership of it. At the time I believe some customers around the globe were complaining with a warm derrière so Volvo introduced a fix on the seat wiring loom to remedy/prevent the seat pad getting too hot

Thanks Mr 4x4, just checked and mine is all good. Amazing yours has been looked after so well but this got missed. Maybe a clerical error by Volvo not logging it correctly? You’ll find out soon I guess.

Had mine done around June last year. Worked fine, but they broke two trim pieces, failed to refit another one and then scratched the bejesus out of the paint (despite three statements telling them not to at every stage of the process, and a sign in the car). Obviously this isnt a statement about the recall, more the potential downsides of techs who havent seen a model over ten years old before.

They did state there were some breakages in the thermostat wiring (there were), but they still carried out the recall and tested what they could to confirm the relays were working.

I had to cancel my 'recall' appointment due to family commitments on the day. After reading about all the problems other owners had when the recall was done. The seat doesn't get overly warm and I've checked the wiring and it all looks good, so rather than have an apprentice who hasn't a clue about 23 year old cars breaking plastic parts to get to the wiring I've decided to leave it as it left the factory...

Its just a relay and harness. Check breaker cars for the loom and install yourself. You can also buy it new, hink I saw it on Skandix.
