V70: Electrical Electrics dead after thief unlocked car

Hi, I'd be grateful for any suggestions.
A thief somehow unlocked my V70 last night and helped themselves to the TomTom from the locker between the front seats. The electrics are now completely dead. No sign of life and of course car won't start.
I called the RAC, but they said they can't help if the problem is caused by vandalism. Called my insurers - and of course major hassle as the claim would be down as my fault as they can't claim off another driver + £250 excess.

Does anyone have any thoughts about how to check the electrics/diagnose/resolve the problem? I disconnected the battery for an hour in the hope that would re-boot the electrics, but nothing.

at the risk of being over simple - its not as flat battery is it?

Also check all the power switches are off. I have a habit of leaving the position lights on and flattening the battery. Obviously the battery can't recover while the system is calling for power.

It could be that your key is now out of synch with your car and may have to be reset by a main dealer.

...and if the man has then gone on a night shift from which he is still asleep or pre arranged party or had a family emergency or he's outside right now working on it but without his media tablet in his hand?

I get its annoying but that's the me me society we live in.

Last week our church was rammed because a couple whom I've never met before wanted their children christened, this week needless to say none of the part time users were in evidence, their wedding and funeral will be the only times we see them. However there is just a chance that one will see the light and join us, for the sake of that one we endure the many part time users. Long may it be so.

As with churches so with volvo forums, one volunteer is worth 10 pressed men.

Well he's going to struggle to get work with a non-working car, and if he's working on it right now without checking the forum for the help he requested then he's a bit dim!

... and if he's posted the question then begged a lift or caught the bus he's not as dim has you sound eh!

To the OP, I hope you cure it. I've not any idea and can only suggest getting it plugged into the Volvo diagnostic system called Vida!
If you do cure it, whether it was one of the suggestions above or not, lettuce snow.
