For a modest 250-300BHP the std maf will work but doing the head work and a good cam you should be be more like 300+ so really at the point of wanting the 3 inch MAF
The head is fine, the corrosion is only VERY minor and most heads I see are worse but they can all be fixed |

I fixed a cross thread in mine with a thread tap (to clean the straight bit) and then a wheel bolt (bought off ebay) with the correct thread to straighten the bent ones from the inside. It was a little tricky to get it started from the inside as the thread isn't a clean taper there, but a bit of gentle fiddling got it in. Its now used on the track regularily.
Some of the cooling ports are blocked by the gasket. |
