Unhappy 945 Wentworth/GLE B200FT & Lambda light

I have a long standing problem. The Lambda light came on and I had the code 1-2-1 in the ecu.
I have 1) Cleaned out the carbon in the Throttle housing so the butterfly shuts
properly
2) Replaced the Air Mass unit with a second hand one and remade the earth connection
3) Replaced the Air Filter in the intake box.
4) Replaced the Lambda sensor
5) Replaced the ecu thermostat in the cylinder head

Each time I have felt a slight improvement but the Lambda light stays on. Now in the last few days I have notice a pungent smell from the exhaust and a, having excessive fuel consumption. I have check the codes and the 1-2-1 is gone and now I get 1-1-3 and 2-3-2 which suggests the car is running rich. This may be nothing to do with my earlier problems, just cropt up now. I may have also knocked something whilst fixing the other problems.
Any suggestions as I am slowly going nuts over this car.
P.S. I replaced the hall/flywheel sensore about 9 months ago.

You have either obtained the wrong Lambda sensor (not likely) or the catalyser has been damaged by the incorrect fuel ratios that have occurred due to the original MAF sensor fault (indicated by the 1-2-1 code). The pungent smell also suggests catalyser.

All the best, Peter.

Made sure you havent got a vac leak somewhere? a bend in pipe someplace that has a hiden split?? I asume that you reset the ecu (unplug battery) to clear the code/light?

Thumbs up Thanks Guys

Sorry for the late reply. I will certainly try what you suggest. The vacume hoses look a bit dodgy and there are hoses with a plastic (white nylon) Y piece under the inlet manifold (No 4 cylinder by the thermostat just replaced) going to 'something round' on the block that looks like its leaking fuel. My current theory is that I disturbed something on the fuel injection when I did the thermostat.

I confess Peter the Lambda is a Universal type but seems to be the correct one.

Thanks again. See how I get on.

my money is on the cat being blocked up by rich running, this will in turn damage your new sensor, you could take it to a garage and ask them to test the emissions for you, this will give an indication of the state of the cat. (should be aroud 85 quid for a new one off the internet)
