Default red engine light on s60 2007 volvo

Red Engine light came on dashboard of my 2007 s60 Volvo with 96,567 miles. Delear said I need a fuel pressure sensor and PCV breather box at a cost of $650 plus $1,350, respectively, for a total of $2,000 without tax. I was about to give the car away to Goodwill for a tax break...My friend has dealt with an honest Mom & Pop mechanic for over 30 years (I always wondered why she brought a car once every 20 years) and she suggested that talk to them. Anyway, I took my s60 Volvo to her mechanic and his diagnosed the fuel pressure sensor and broken PCV hoses...Total cost to fix with parts and labor was $320. No lights or messages on dashboard and Car runs great! People check around for a great honest reasonable mechanic!
