2004 V70 clutch position sensor required
Does anyone have one of these, perhaps on a vehicle they're breaking. Don't really wanna pay 50 quid dealer price. Thanks

Taking apart and cleaning the carbon tracks with electrical contact cleaner fixed mine for free.

CPS is a simple potentiometer. As Cheshired5 says cleaning it may fix for free. but be careful the tracks are delicate. If it don't and you can solder a cheap solution is to solder a resistor in parallel within the switch. This bring the switch back into "range"
Below is the dogs breakfast I did on my old T5...but it worked for several years until I sold it. You need to calculate the resistor value first ( I got mine from Maplins - 10p) Lots of info on the web and I think also on V70 pre 2007 section of this site. Good luck Bob |

Indeed the ceramic substrate is pretty delicate, I managed to break a corner off mine when I was trying to clean it & also now have a resistor in it's place. I think I need to re-calculate though as still get the occasional "engine service required" above 60mph & the cruise hasn't worked since (I understand that dipping the clutch with cruise engaged would be foolish with the resistor "mod", so that's worth noting if you're used to using a clutch tap to disengage cruise.)
