Default I Quit

As it looks as if I have a seeping cylinder head gasket I am leaving the breather system to be done at the same time , coward you might say and you would be dead right.
Monday morning will be spent frightening my credit cards as I ring around for estimates,I think I will give Stratstone's a ring , just for a laugh.
Thanks everyone for your help.

Mike

I had my head gasket done on the 960 by the dealer, got little change from £900 but £100 of that was for a new knock sensor.

Wink Cheers Mike!!

I was relying on you to save me the hassle of having the car off the road while I got the parts that I hadn't anticipated ;-)

Seriously though, good luck with it not costing too much!

Default Prices

I will let you all know the prices I am quoted ,if they are as much as a grand then goodbye 960.
Peter I am sorry to drop you in it , but when you start you will see what I mean, there are some 10mm bolts under the fuel rail at the rear and the center of the block, but I cannot see any at the front , how you get to any of them beats me.

Hi,

Cold be a grand, especially if you need work on the head (a skim or valves seating etc)...

But then, what is the difference between £900 and £1000?
If you'll spend the £900then you may as well spend the £1000...
Just my opinion mind...

No worries Mike, good luck with yours.

It is a job I have been meaning to do since I had the car and have kept putting off because I knew that it would be a bit of a mission. I have searched on this forum for 'flame trap' and printed off pages of info from both the posts and links provided by other members.

Des and many others have been a big help to me. Many thanks to all of you.

Thanks Des,

If I do have the head done this will be one expensive 965,I reckon that since last Feb and in 2000 miles I have spent £1500 over and above the purchase of the car. There is still a dent in the door to be fixed £150,five wheels to be powdercoated £250,to new rear-lights needed, another £150.
I have just seen a 2000 Jag S type with 62000 on the clock for under £4000,one owner and immac' Oh get thee behind me Satan, and give me a push.

0Inlet manifold is held by the 6 rubber pipes, and I think a mount underneath it.

Yes, it's a difficult decision to make, isn't it...
But then as I say, if you are going to go half way, there isn't much further to go...
It does mean that you will be committing yourself to keeping the car for a couple of years at least to justify the investment....

Lucky I am keeping my V90 for the foreseeable future...

You may well be right, but if there is I couldn't find a mounting,I took the butterfly out and looking into the plenum chamber there is no evidence in the casting of a mounting on the other side,I know this is not always a reliable guide.
