Default Wiper arms stripped taper splines

Having ensured that the wipers were free today ...10 mins later -7 here...the taper stripped in the arm, having enquired about a new arm, I removed the arm cleaned both the splines and filed the step out of the arm and replaced the nut. OK the question is, does a new arm come with the hole splined (as such a female of the male pinion) or not. Adrian@

Adrian,
The new arm should come with the "hole" splined. I had a similar problem and managed to prevent the cost of a new arm by doing as you said in cleaning both halves and "Loctite"ing them together before fitting the compression nut on to the thread.
Cheers

Just what you've done should cure the problem, its alloy arm, so the splines will dig in again when you tightened the nut

Default Stripped wiper spline.

Hi Chaps,

Not sure if this will help, but my old 850 stripped a thread on the drivers side. Drilled it and put a split pin in it without dismantling anything. All still OK two years later.
