Default Valve Springs

Me again, (again)...

Does anyone have wise words on whether valve springs should be replaced on an engine rebuild?

Springs from my B18A are all the same length and I can't see any damage. I never heard the engine running. Machine shop has offered to test them.

But at £5 each, am thinking I might as well just replace them.

Yes, new springs. Testing a couple of old ones would be interesting if your man has one of the lever type testers.

It's a bit like not replacing the spigot bearing when you fit a new clutch. The springs are not so expensive relative to the work of pulling the head off again at a later date. If you replace them now it's one less thing to worry about.

What cam are you going to use? If upgrading the cam it is worth fitting stiffer springs

K Seems to be the one to go for. I see the R on your site, but that might be a but extreme(?)

The R is a bit much for a B18, The D cam is about the best choice but some do prefer the K
