Each single wire is soldered to a stereo channel left or right. So therefore the capacitor is soldered into the Positive and Negative of each channel either way around it doesn`t matter with this type, and the two earth wires just goes past the capacitor as in the pic. from the female socket to the chassis unit.

A friend of mine has the SC 805 with the Yatour MP3 Interface which also has an Headphone input. Problem is when the Iphone is connected to it and also charged via cig light adapter he has this annoying whining from the alternator.
When he unplugs it from the Cig ligther the whinning stops. I fitted an filter before the cig lighter adapter however no change... Will the whinning stilll be present with this "hack"? Regards Cristian Last edited by scutyde; Sep 24th, 2012 at 13:07. |

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3-5mm-Earp...item41560179c6 It's a ground loop isolator and it works in the way I explained above (1:1 transformers). The whine occurs because the difference in ground potential between the phone and the head unit is enough to generate a small current which shows up as interference in the audio. In extreme cases this current can also damage the amplifier of the device that's driving the stereo, if its design isn't good. Best of luck! Chris...

You need the ground loop issolator rather than something in the power line - Mike

Older alternators had a capacitor bolted onto a mounting bolt but nowadays it is all incorporated. The capacitors used because of the correct value will safeguard any device using this hack.
