it really depends what you want ... both engines are build for a purpose.
T5 is a lovely drive, very happy with mine. get about 32mpg, had it for 4 years from 43k to 151k now. Probably needs a bit more tlc but probably be a smoother car. Havent had a D5 but previosuly had an S40 2.0D and the mpg wasnt that far off this car on my long daily commutes if I just drove a bit slower. If you are into more spirited driving and tuning, the T5 would be the choice.

How likely are the v50 t5 awd to come up for sale? Or is it pointless even looking for 1 and just stick with the front wheel drive ones?
