Default An answer to our Mirror problem

There have been a few entries about how to sort out the near side door mirror on Amazons and P1800 s. And I have come up with an answer that works for me.Looking at the original mirror the fixing is in the centre of the back which isn't ideal so I bought a pair of Texconvex mirror from Holdens that have the fixing near the edge which pushes the mirror further out from the door. To fix these mirrors I had to get 2ba nuts and make them round and file a slot in them and that works fine but I still couldn't get the mirrors far enough in to see the near side of the car. So the final step was to cut a wedge from a 20mm aluminium tube that goes from nothing to approx three sixteenths inch, cut a bit out so I could push it between the sprung arm and the fixed body and this works brilliantly. I can now see the nearside from the driving seat.
I wanted to put photos on here but can't find a way to do it but if anyone wants them just send me a pm

Another option is to use these. I have done so, and they allow greater angle adjustment to allow the proper “rear view”

I'm glad you posted that link, it saves me having to look up my previous post about them. They can be used on the Volvo door mirrors and the cups can also have the slots extended a bit to help even further.
