Is a 144 ever worth this much?
http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C516184
note the words in the description 'appears' 'seemingly' 'understand' 'seems' for nearly £7000 I'd need 100% proof!!!!

Looks to be a very nice clean car. I would say it is worth every penny of the asking price, just think what new car you could buy for that and which one will still be going in 20 years time and the 144 could even be cheaper to run.
Why 140's never sell for that kind of money I do not know and I would say they would be lucky to get half the asking price with it being a late model and auto. |

single carb and an automatic, though? for that sorta money I'd expect fuel injection and a manual transmission with overdrive... and even then, probably overpriced.

Billy Smalls - I don't know about current 140 values, but this chap always words his ads in this way ... My take is that he recognises that any description is subjective and only the opinion of the author. I'm sure that he would expect and welcome your inspection to ascertain the condition for yourself.
Interestingly, he is also listing what appears to be a very nice '88 340GL for £1250, which I feel undervalues the car - especially by a dealer! If I was in the market for such a car I would certainly take a look at that one! Classicswede - Agree absolutely! Computer Jones - Engine / Transmission options are a matter of personal choice and should not, in my view, influence the car's value unduly. Our first Volvo in '84 was a '72 145E manual which cost £650 from a dealer! Nowadays we would only consider an auto (have done for >20 years) and would not look at a manual car - no matter how good! I'd happily pay that if I could find my old 145S....

The car looks good, but I think the price is too high.
Also, the ad wording might be carefully chosen. The car has had paintwork. There is a colour difference between the right rear door and the rear wheelarch. John |

Maybe the price is a tad high but no dougt the dealer will be offered a part exchange vehicle which the punter will also overvalue and hopefully the two parties will meet with a happy agreement. In my experience Pioneer are the most relaxed easy going dealer/enthusiasts out there .

The question could be "will these cars appreciate in value?"
