AWD Transmission: - Geartronic Transmission Query

hi all,
just acquired a 2010 d5 R-design with 110k on the clock. my previous car of 10 years was an S80 D5 so same engine/trans?

my question is, my XC90 seems to hang in gear a lot longer than the s80 did. for example I was driving at 40mph and decided to "see" what gear I was in my switching to manual and it said I was in 4th. I would expect to have been in 5th gear at 40mph?

can someone enlighten me? thanks

It is a bigger, heavier car. You'll soon get used to it.

Depending on the age of your S80 it may have had the 163bhp engine and the 5 speed box where as you will have a 6 speed in the XC90 and either the 185bhp or 200bhp engine depending on the actual age (a large D5 badge indicates the 200bhp engine) but as above the XC90 is a heavier car with worse aerodynamics so will require the engine to work a bit harder for the same speed.

My s80 was 163hp remapped to 200 with the 6 speed box
My XC90 is the 185hp
Anyway I plan on changing the transmission fluid sooner rather than later!
