Default 1.6L D2 cambelt

Hi
I have a 7-year old 80k V60 D2 with the 1.6T
According to the manufacturer’s recommendation, I should replace the cambelt at 10 years/87.5K
I will own this car for 3 years and I expect to drive to 100k
Do you recommend I replace the cambelt and what is the cost of the replacement?
If it is not replaced, can it be safe to drive until 100K, Is there such a high probability??

From other users on this site, belts do seem to be pretty robust, still looking like brand new at time of change. As yours is neither due for change by time or distance, I would not bother. If you intend to keep it for only 3 years and to the 100k mark, it would only just be due and therefore of concern to the next owner.
Prices do again seem to vary widely dependant on who does the work, independents are mostly cheaper than Volvo and DIY is Cheaper than independents.

Forgive me , I miss read your post. I timed out on my edit. But from what you say you are about there on mileage for a change of belts. Best to get them done to save any problem and to give peace of mind. My comment remains the same as to cost of replacement.

I suppose it's just a question of how lucky you feel.
The manufacturer recommends at 87.5k and they have a lot more data than us on the belts.

So, you could probably be alright to 100k, but then again, it might not be.

So, are you feeling lucky ?

As for cost, as Deck1ng said, there will be a scope of costs can vary significantly depending on where you go, but I would think a ballpark figure of around £400, for a independent or closer to £650 for a dealer.

Best to call around a few places, someone here may have more accurate pricing info.

Its not due yet, so no need.

However, when the car hits 10 years old or 87,500 miles whichever comes first, then get it replaced.

You’re taking a gamble after that point really. It could break, but it might not. Its not worth the risk in my opinion. Just get it replaced when the time comes.

Mine was around 9 years old and 115000 miles when the cambelt kit was done (not the water pump). The old belt looked brand new and the idler/tensioner spun without any noticeable wear. Didn’t mean to leave it that long and had bought the kit, just kept procrastinating for a while longer.

Thank you for your help. I think I can ask about the price. If I can accept it, I will replace it. Have you tried WhoCanFixMyCar? Can you refer to the mechanic's quotation above?
