It’s come up by 2-3mpg, but I think I’d still got an intake air leak. Going to have to book it in to the garage for a proper smoke test as my DIY attempt wasn’t very successful.

Not much going on at the minute….
Car had a new windscreen in today (cracked), at the 2nd attempt as the original screen was wrong (without the windscreen camera), fitter showed me where the sealant had failed on the original screen and said it was a Volvo issue. Got a suspension rattle developed, will probably get the garage to look at this as my chance of finding it on a cobbled drive in winter is err nil! Last edited by reggit; Feb 10th, 2022 at 19:33. |

Just over a year later….
Had the car in the garage for a look-see at the suspension rattle as it got much worse (I don’t do many miles in it and the MOT tester couldn’t find an issue so I sort of ignored it. He thought it was a knocking shock), diagnosed as knackered rear bushes in both wishbones and slight knock in top strut mounts. It is going into the garage for these doing as I can’t press the bushes easily myself. It’s also been booked in at the Carlisle Volvo dealer for a polestar map, total software upgrade for all modules and finally the seatbelt recall. Wanted this doing after I got the suspension and a couple of paint defects attended to (worst is front bumper panel), however the Polestar map reduced to £300 from £700 tempted me. Will update once these jobs are done (if I remember). |

At 180,052 miles and nearly 14 years old - it’s just had the polestar optimisation installed. Thanks to Lloyds Volvo and the £300 offer.
Seems unchanged pootling around, but give it some and the car absolutely flies. I wonder if the intercooler or a pipe will surrender first 😂 Money well spent in my opinion as it makes overtaking safer (that’s how I justified it to the missus anyway). Roll on suspension repair in a couple of weeks so I can really make the most of it. |

Just had it in the garage for a couple of worn out bushes on the control arms and upper strut mounts sorting.
Garage said it was a b’stard of a job and took longer than they anticipated - Two days! However they stuck to their original estimate of just under £400. This is a local garage I’ve not used before but had recommended. I will return to them for jobs I don’t fancy tackling myself. It’s not embarrassing to drive around now and isn’t tracking strangely anymore. Time to save up and get some defective paintwork sorted out… |

And how does the car repay me spending all this money on it?
Bloody cracked wheel - it’s a previous owners repair that I didn’t even know was there that’s failed. I blame the numerous pot holes around where I live. Fortunately Huddersfield breakers had one wheel of the same type in stock, that’s now on its way to me, complete with a crappy Chinese tyre, which will be getting ditched as soon as I get it. And an MOT fail on a bust rear spring 😢, I had no idea either. £400 lighter in pocket for both rears changing.
What next I wonder…. |
