Good to hear you're enjoying 960 motoring[mine is the saloon version]fuel consumption on any car I've owned has never been a consideration for me[although when first purchased I like to get a rough idea of the mpg,so I know if it suddenly gets worse there's a problem]and it's nearly 30yrs since I had a car with less than a 2.2 litre engine.very fine cars indeed, although it's slightly down on BHP compared to my 3L Omega I believe it's also slightly lighter.
The very best luck with your health issue I hope it's sorted soon and you have a speedy recovery.

Beautiful 960! I’ve always wanted one of those. I absolutely agree with living for the now. My Dad had bowel cancer ten years ago...with the help of an op and a course of stereotactic radiotherapy at Guys and St Thomas’ in London, he was thankfully given the all clear six years ago and is now 82 and still going strong!

Keeping everything crossed that it’s a similarly efficacious fix for your good self, and that you have many years of joy with the big barge! Keep us posted on how she is after the coil pack and leads fix for the idle. From the pics she looks minty!

My 170bhp 940 does 18mpg round town.........

Oh well.

On motorway journeys - what it was designed for, if I stick at 65mph just crusing, I can get nearly 35 mpg.

Use Shell Optimax petrol, it'll do the engine good and you'll get more mpg too.

With optimax and 30mpg my car costs 21p per mile to run, thats ok for me.

I am so tempted by the VOC rally but I just can't say that I would be up to it on the day...

One of the consequences of having Cancer for me is anaemia and I get very tired and breathless at times

Blood transfusions and Iron Tablets are helping though and I would like to be there

Mmmm thinking....

I would have advised you to have an lpg conversion, mine cost £1400 and has saved me over £8000 but sadly it seems to be a dying car fuel, fewer places stocking it now, Shell are withdrawing it completely they have announced and the new green initiatives coming into place soon mean there will be no place for it.

Beautiful looking car. I think you have to look at it that what you splurge out on fuel you recoup with reliability and longevity. I've had my 940 over 11 years now and many on here have owned their longer and gone around the clock several times.

So sorry to hear of the cancer.

I thought about LPG conversion but to be honest I am not phased by the low MPG as I have said it's Smiles Per Gallon that matter and gosh does she deliver on SPG!

My local garage sells LPG and there's a specialist over at Peterborough who could do the conversion. But not something I am actively pursuing atm..

Good news is that my rough idle is on the mend - just waiting on Leads and Coil Packs the garage tell me so should be back with me Mon/Tues next week

Otherwise car has been given a clean bill of health and next I want to tackle the leather seats.... anyone found any Dark Beige leather dye? Apparently that is my interior colour?

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/122424262898

Try that listing and play around with the drop-down menu. Mid Brown seems to be the closest as far as i know the colour but i could be wrong. Also bear in mind your leather may have faded in the sun so you may have to do all of it for it to look "right" again.

I'm still converting my 760 to LPG, been a long slow process for me but i'll get there in the end! Still a garage at Downham Market (about 22 miles from me) and Thetford (about 12 miles) that sell LPG so still worth it for me. This site if you click on the LPG map and enter your location is fairly active and gives updated prices/availability :

https://www.filllpg.co.uk/index.php?page=home.php

Unusually it was down just now when i tried it but it should be back up and running later. Better than spending £1.41/L on petrol!

Do you think LPG will be around for much longer? I would have thought it a good compromise to keep older and classic cars going?

But it seems there's just the rush for EVs without true infrastructure planning or thought on the true environmental impact... stored CO2 from the energy used in production of the materials used on and in an older car and of course any replacement EV..
