Default Soot filter full message

I have an issue with the car when driving from cold if accelerating hard the car appears to go into limp mode and a soot filter message warning appears for a short period but the engine picks up after taking my foot off the accelerator this only happens when the engine is cold quite alarming when trying to pull away from a junction/roundabout!

The car is a 2005 163bhp which I assumed wasn't fitted with a DPF? or possibly a detuned 185bhp?

The 185 was released in may 2005. What colour is the engine cover? Its its a 163 itll be all black, 185 silver with a black surround.

Typically rhe DPFs themselves almost never give grief on their own. Its usually a separate problem and the symptoms that arise are a side effect of that. Intake air leaks are a favourite cause of this sort of thing,

+1 to all above..................👍

If it has a black engine cover it is a Euro 3 163 bhp with no DPF and Swirl Flaps. To get that message up I can only assume that you have a 185 Euro 4 installed.

+5 to all above

With the added comment that there are two common reasons for soot filter full:

1. Crack (air leak) in the charged air pipe from turbo to intercooler, causing air-fuel ration to be wrong, burning much more diesel, generating more soot, and filling the filter

2. Turbo oil seals gone, burning oil, filling filter

At any rate, you always have to do two things:
1. Clean the DPF (secondary problem)
2. Find and fix the root cause (primary problem)

Thanks for your responses slightly puzzling as the car was registered in September 05 and reg details list it as a 163bhp ~120kW Euro3 also checked and it has a black engine cover but I assume if it splays a soot filter message it must have a DPF fitted?

Black cover euro 3 doesn’t have the soot filter.

Sure I’ve read about anomalous soot warnings due to a software issue (I think), it was possibly in the P2 V70 section, worth searching in there as well.
