Just think of all the financial appreciation we're all enjoying!
Trouble is, even if we wanted to jump ship and buy something else, all the other used car prices have rocketed as well, something to do with people working from home so they don't need a lease car they can blame for being late for work and are now £400+/month better off as a result, the sudden desire for nostalgia brought on IMHO by the plethora of indistinguishable Euroblobs on the market these days, all the prices of post-2000 used cars have dropped by comparison although still higher than they were. The biggest rise has been in pre-2000 cars so my advice to anyone thinking of "jumping ship" would be wait until the prices level off, sell your 7/9xx at the highest price and then wait for the prices to tumble. Meanwhile buy a cheap (£2-300 Euroblob as transport only) heap to get about in and then wait until the prices of pre-2000 cars drop again then get whatever you were thinking of.

Thing is - when I get to my destination ( in considerable comfort I must add ) the person I'm meeting will almost certainly say " Nice Volvo "
I can picture turning up at some guys house with a bland modern car, with an ache in my back and sore eyes from the overwhelming bling that car manufacturers seem to think everyone want nowadays, and them saying " Nice car, what is it? " I'll keep my Volvo, unless a reasonably priced Lotus Carlton catches my attention instead. Back to the ad - I've seen worse but it's £4k over priced given its spec, engine and condition - it doesn't even have the obligatory 7 seats....!

An identical one in better all-round nick sold locally to me for £1700 recently.
Whatever the currently hype train price increases have been, that simply is NOT a £6.5k car in any sane person’s book. If it was a 2.3, in the right colour, a minter with half the miles and the right spec, maybe £3k…but then I’m basically describing my petrol 940, which cost me £1200. I don’t understand the skyward trend price wise at all. I say that as the son of a car dealer who grew up around all of this batty stuff…these are great cars, we all know that. Good ones are worth preserving and tatty ones make great rolling resto projects and excellent sense in terms of “bangernomics”, but £6.5k is a monumental p*sstake.
