Default I've collected my new V90 - major driver display issue

I collected my new V90 Inscription this afternoon a mere 5 months and 2 days late. I've got the charcoal interior with the slate, wool-blend seats. It's beautiful. I don't like the gear knob, but on the upside, when I ask to be directed to Appleby, I don't get a woman saying "searching music and radio, what would you like to listen to?".

However, the driver display isn't showing the map. When I flick between display modes I get the choice of a big black space in the middle of the dials, or a big black space in the middle of two smaller dials. The dealer is flummoxed....although I'd have been happier had they checked this out before I went to collect it!

The dealer is, of course, very apologetic and will collect the car, drop me a courtesy car and get it fixed, but does anyone have a clue what's going on? Has this happened to anyone else?

Sadly, I was really quite excited about having this feature!

To be fair my experience of Volvo dealerships is that while they are overpriced and not great, when something does go wrong they do usually move quickly to get it all sorted out.
Mi should imagine it’s a software update or something simple.

The chap dealing with the sale did seem genuinely mortified and I know they'll get it sorted but I hope it's just a software issue and not a hardware one because I can't imagine replacing the driver display is an easy task and it's the sort of thing I'd think the factory is better installing than a workshop.

My worry is that when I change display modes, the whole screen flashes with lines like when a cable is loose in the back of a computer monitor, which suggests a hardware fault.

We shall see!

I wouldn’t worry about it too much. They’re not the best for picking out problems pre delivery!

It’s highly likely to be remedied by a software update but if it then the driver display is actually quite modular abs a replacement should be simple for them to do, not disastrously complex!

Wool blend interior - v exciting!!

That's a relief!

I actually consoled myself earlier when I was thinking "how often have I wished I could open the boot with my foot? Never!"....and suddenly realised that I've probably never wished I could see a map in between the speedo and the rev counter.

I can't remember why I choose the wool blend, but it's really nice! I'm quite looking forward to seeing it in proper daylight.

Thanks - this fixed the problem on the driver's display?

Did you have to input all your account details again?

It worked! Thank you so much!

If this happens to anyone else, press and hold the button beneath the centre display until the Volvo icon reappears on the screen, then release and voila.

Glad could help, the new android system has some bugs.
On one of the new XC60 T8 the keys are not detected. I started the preheat from the app and when I got to the car the keys don't work to lock or start the car.

Hope you have a good experience.

Did you try connecting to the internet? Either through the car SIM (good luck with that!) or with WiFi? If I understand correctly, with the new android system there are no maps loaded, you need an internet connection first so google can download them. Or maybe you're not getting a GPS signal?
