Hi! yes you can use the original coil as you say drilling or cutting a hole. However I am finding that more of these coils are giving problems usually with cracking on the plastic around the top leading to arking out.

The FlameThrower coil is also more powerfull and this can improve performance and economy.

the choice is yours.

Hi Dean, I stock and sell the electronic ignition systems. They are so small, it looks like you don't get much for your money, but they are superb. Easy to fit and cheap. Depending on model, I sell them for £79 or £88 plus vat. Gissa call. The Old Volvo Man 0208-525-7283 or e-mail amazon@dircon.co.uk

Thanks for finding that :-)

<<In its stage three form a Ruddspeed 122's could top 127mph. Even an estate given the 'treatment' could reach 100mph.>>

Interesting - with identical tuning mods & gearing, my money is on the estate having a higher top speed as it is more aerodynamic / produces less drag - the airflow off the back of a saloon is going to be a complete mess. I strongly suspect that the 100mph estate was only 'stage one' tuned & probably didn't have overdrive either.

..agreed..my old amazon estate with 1800 twin carb engine, and minor fettling to cam, flywheel and head would easily show 105 mph, so i would imagine the full monty treatment would make it a damn sight faster than that!!
