Default Perished rubber sealing on sunroof

I have a 2017 XC90 T8. I took in in to be serviced and told them that the rubber sealing around the sunroof was perishing. I was told it was mice! Has anyone else had this issue? See attached images....... The same thing is happening to the rubber catch on the electrical recharge point.

I will go to the motor ombudsmen but wanted to check her first.

Thank you.

If it was simply disintegrating on its own - it would be widespread - and honestly, I've never seen anything like this. To me - it looks like it's been eaten.

indeed , never seen anything like that , it's local damage . and this would not degrade in 3 years .. I have seen the damage mice CAN do however ! mainly under the bonnet and inside the car.

Kind of with the others on this. Doesn't look like perishing to me. Looks very much like it has been eaten. Sorry to have to say it (as the cost is going to be on you) but I think the dealer is correct here and it is not a warranty issue.....

Might be birds pecking away at it, crow's, jackdaw's or magpie's, I have seen crow's pecking at cars before. Or even Squirrels. I doubt it is mice on the roof. It has been got at by something.

Unusual damage i guess it is a rodent or bird of some sorts? I had an Alfa 166 2000 reg and had bought 200 ciggies in duty free for a friend and i left them in the glove box. The day we were meeting to hand over the ciggies i opened the glove box and found mice had eaten into the boxes and used the filter cotton as bedding! I live in a fairly rural area however I was shocked to see that mice could get into the car! Does not say much for Italian build quality still loved the 3 litre Busso engine lot's of fun. Hope the cost is not too heavy looks like a new seal/ gasket
