Default Headlight protector

Hi just got a pair of headlight protectors for my 1993 Torslander. Any advice on fitting them would be a great help. Thanks Trevor

Default headlight protectors

I've done quite a lot of searches on these as the main road lorries can go to 50mph now, which is good, but it does destroy my glasses.

I currently use clear sticky tape to keep out the rain.

These protectors do seem to be rare and expensive and maintenance seems to be a problem. To clean you need to remove them and clean the gap between the glass and the protector.
Anyway I am keen to get a pair as having replaced an off side (most vulnerable), was shattered 2 weeks later.
I think I may have exhausted the o/s glass on ebay at £19. The whole thing is £150???
I have purchased a windscreen repair kit for £8. This may be an answer.
Always repair, do not throw it away.

Just had an MOT

The tester noted headlight glass damage. And reported Advisory, Replace as soon as possible.

The tape I used was Gorilla clear tape, quite wide and covered about 150% of the damaged area. Being clear tape there was no reduced light from the headlight. Its been on a week and 800 mile damp rainy miles, is doing well.

As these glasses are no longer produced by Volvo I hope I can preserve my last one, though I shall keep an eye on ebay.
