Default Key buttons not working

Just noticed this week that my key buttons aren’t working ( ie lock, unlock and open boot) on my 2017 S90

. However, I can still lock/unlock the car via keyless and the car starts fine so the car is sensing the key.

So I change the key battery....no difference.
So I try another new battery...the same....so I try a battery from another gadget that works fine...still not working
So I dig out the other key....the buttons aren’t working on that either...

So I think the wireless key module that locks and unlock the doors and boot isn’t working . I have gone into the car menus and done both a factory and personal reset...still the same.
Any ideas? I’d pull a fuse or disconnect the battery (if I could find either)

you could well be suffering from local radio transmitter interference .

try pushing the car a short distance away from where it is .

No that’s not working, just drove it into town.
Did it there too.

It’s like neither key is working but they are as I can still unlock and get in the car via keyless and it starts, so it’s like something has been turned off in settings?

I would go to the dealer and see if the software is up to date and whether they have a service bulletin on your problem ... It's not something I have heard of , with both remotes playing up it suggests the car is the problem ..

Yes, you have reached the same conclusion as I have.
Problem is that the car is now out of warranty and I am selling it next week...intuitively it feels like something has been switched off within the car but I can’t work out what. I’ve generally used the passive fob since new (no buttons);so i had no idea that the key module was recentiy u/s...until I dug out the spare key earlier today.

Still hoping that someone knows a simple fix and it doesn’t turn into Pandora’s box

Have you had your software updated at least once a year? that is the first step
Its a very complex car just like most today no one but the dealer can help you .. explain your situation they can still go for goodwill ..

Last time it was done was May 19. Stepped away from main dealers this year because of cost (it’s out of warranty ) ...they wanted £250 for an oil and filter change and a quick once over whilst on the ramp .I can do that myself for £60 and under an hour of my time.I’m not convinced if I had fetched it to them that the fault wouldn’t have manifested itself bit well never know. I see they do a very basic service for older Volvos (oil change and a Volvo software update) this may be the best way forward .

It still feels like a setting or module has been disturbed.but nothing like it in the setup menus
I will have access to a decent scanner at Xmas so I can read and clear any apparent fault codes then

I haven’t got a solution but for the past year I have had the same problem with both keys on my 2017 S90. If I push repeatedly on the button it eventually opens the car. Always worse first thing in the morning like some arthritic pensioner (myself included). No problem starting the engine. Worse at home than elsewhere but still present away from home. My daughter borrowed the car and had the same problem 40 miles away. I am still in warranty- so will contact the dealer and post if I get a solution
