Default Key Fob Battery Change

One of my key fobs was suffering from a failing battery so I changed it with the recommended battery inserted. However since then I have found that the remote seems not to be recognised by the car when I use it to try and unlock the car. I have double checked that it is inserted properly and it is. What am I doing wrong and what to do to correct this? Does it need pairing to the car again? I can't find anything (not unusual) published by Volvo about this. Help please.

Hi. Change of the battery is very simple and easy to do process. You do not need any pairing of the key. The only things coming to my mind is, the battery is faulty or wrong one. Or something has been damaged during the change.

Providing the battery is the right way up it should work, no pairing required.

Hello, If you're sure the battery is inserted correctly (right way up) and you've removed any protective film from it, then I'd try another battery.

I had to change mine recently and the hardest part was getting into the fob itself.

As has been said above, there's nothing to do once the battery has been changed, it should just work.

Just a quick update and thanks to those who have replied.
Had a trip to the Dealers with both key fobs. Even though both had been used and worked until a couple of days ago it was found that the newly replaced battery (2 months or so ago) wasn't making a good contact but once taken out and re-inserted worked fine. I'm scratching my head on that one too!

The other one was deemed to be U/S and needed to be replaced under warranty which will mean another trip there when it arrives.

So perplexed but the problem all but sorted.
