Rear arm/cradle bush
My 05 XC90 was in for service and mot check yesterday, mechanic said the bushings in the rear cradle where the arms fit in could probably do with replacing. Has anyone done these, or know how tricky they are to put in?
He's never done them before and was a bit apprehensive about taking them out incase they proved to be a session to get back in. Any help or advice be great. I'd assume that genuine Volvo bushes be the way to go? |

Are these not a very common part to go, or has no one had any experience with getting them changed by a garage even?

Ive had them replaced, by a garage. Didn't say it was hard, or easy.

Cheers dude, ordered them from Volvo yesterday £10+vat each which was surprisingly cheap, was told that there're no special fitting tool so hopefully not too nasty to fit!

I wouldn't have thought so. Soak them in penetrating fluid for a few days id think... big hammer and a bigger drift should whack them out..... and reverse to fit....
good luck ! PS come back and tell us how you did ? |

If the new bushes have a chamfered edge on one side, fit the chamfered edge first when pressing them in.

Cheers, due back to mechanic when he's a chance to do. They look to be in metal collar so he was apprehensive of battering too much.
I'll keep you's posted Mustn't be overly common or else they changed the part as Volvo dealer had to order them in for me. |

These proved to be a nightmare to get out!!!! mate is a mechanic and did them for me thankfully.
New ones went in handy enough though, used a VW tool to fit. |
