Power increase
Hi, am new to Forum. Have a nice fairly low mileage Amazon estate that I will be upgrading. At the moment I would like to know what I can do without altering the transmission tunnel. Would like to engineer a T5 conversion but assume that would require serious bodywork mod and I want to keep the bodywork as original. Am hoping for 150-170 bhp.
e.g. Do I have to keep to an upright engine? What about a 940 or 760 Turbo engine? Many thanks in ancticipation. |

Probably better asking in the Amazon section too, as they will be able to help better with the more specific fitment issues. However Amazon gearboxes are surprisngly small with a corresponding tunnel, so fitting a larger box probably won't be easy.
As for power, a twin carb is listed at about 115bhp, and iirc, a B20 can be made to kick out about 150bhp with the right mods. Not sure exactly what is needed though! A 7 / 9 series turbo engine would probably be a better bet than a T5, due to length, and apparently they can be made to fit upright (special belhousing & / or bellhousing adaptor). Not sure how well it would fit around the Amazon's steering box & top wishbone mounts though!

Hi, and welcome.
You might want to talk to Oilline, on this forum. He is building a supercharged Amazon. http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showth...hlight=oilline Best of luck with your project John |
